Abstract:On March 17, 2020, a previously super healthy person suffered a heart attack after Mercury Insurance Company tortured her for about 3 weeks and almost lost her dream and life. Yet, Judge Audra Mori not only helped Mercury walk away free but also gave Mercury “the right” to torture the victim to suffer 2nd heart attack. Unlike George Floyd, the victim can still breathe and is able to tell you her story and ask for your support to ensure life, dream, and JUSTICE and beat ill competition.
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd died after Minneapolis Police Derek Chauvin knelt on the back of his neck for about nine minutes. On March 17, 2020, a woman who was super healthy suffered a On March 17, 2020, Mercury Insurance Company (Mercury) caused a woman who was super healthy to suffer a heart attack after torturing her for about three weeks and then pushed her back to the hospital and her doctors over and over. The victim almost lost her dream and life, given that heart attack is #1 cause of death for men and women, 1 in 4 deaths, until she tried her invention – the 6Q Approach.
Yet, Judge Audra Mori not only helped Mercury walked free but also gave Mercury “the right” to torture the victim to suffer 2nd heart attack and sanctioned the victim for protecting her life. It turned out the Judge was an attorney for the hackers to the victim’s business, helping her clients outside the case! Yet, her supervisors found either her doing was not unethical or the case was not extraordinary enough.
Nothing can be more unethical, inhuman and extraordinary than to grant Mercury the right to torture a previously super healthy person to suffer 2nd heart attack! Mercury has attempted to utilize “the new legal right” to press the victim to kneel for life.
Unlike George Floyd, the victim was able to save her life with her invention, can still breathe and tell you her story. The case has gone to the Supreme Court of California on February 22, 2022 with more evidence and grounds, and the victim needs your support to ensure life, dream, and JUSTICE and beat ill competition.
On January 31, 2020, Thomas Ton suddenly cut in front of me while I was driving on my right way with my seatbelt on and caused the accident. He had a $15,000 policy, which should be enough to cover the initial personal and property damages and time losses. The car had a vandalism a few days later and was not ready for repair until the end of February. Then Mercury tricked me to take my car to Lexus dealer to drive the repair cost up more than 100% while depreciating my car value about 40%. Once they could claim my car a total loss, Mercury ended their rental in 5 days instead of 25~30 days for a regular repair. I asked Mercury to fix the car at the body shop that did the initial estimation. However, Mercury refused.
To total a victim’s car and then end their rental in 5 days is a common practice at Mercury that even a 70-year old mother of an actuary at Mercury knows “the trick.” I happen to go to the same fitness club with the mother since August 2021 and share a similar medical background with her. I did not know “the trick” until October 2021. Actuaries at Mercury can work at home, making $250,000 per year, more than twice of the national average.
The accident was not my fault. However, Mercury set me up, forced me put down my urgent issues to find a new car in 5 days or re-register my car within 20 days, and caused me to lose big business opportunities. These made me incredibly angry. At one period, I could suffer chest pain if I thought about Mercury or talked to someone at Mercury and had to go to ER on March 2, 2021. But Mercury did not care.I decided to pay for additional rental and repair my car to save time for more urgent issues but only discovered that more set ups were waiting for me– I also had to pass brake tests, light tests, smog check, and go to DMV again and again in order to re-register my car. In the meantime, Mercury pressed me to sign away my current and future medical costs and personal losses for $731.07, which was not enough to cover one ER visit!! The outrageous meanness and abuse made me angrier. Soon, I was admitted to the hospital for positive Troponin (heart attack diagnostic test) on March 17, 2021.
I was afraid to talk to the claim adjuster after discharged from the hospital. But the adjuster was eager to contact me to press me to accept $3000 for entire medical costs and personal losses, which is not even enough for a stress test but made me angrier and suffer more chest pain.I asked Gabriel Tirador, CEO of Mercury, to stop the killing. But the adjuster only became more eager to press me after he knew he could push me right back to my doctors by making me angry. Then I had to go back to ER, see cardiologists, explore 6Q tools, and visit Eastern Medicine doctors…I have never met an insurance company like Mercury and could never image how someone could torture a perfectly healthy person to suffer a heart attack and nearly end her dream and life until I went through it myself. However, that is not the worst.
We went to the court. Mercury has never answered the complaint since they believe that they are an insurance company, beyond the law. They already have all relevant information but want to abuse discoveries to abuse me more. A motion to quash the abusive discoveries was filed since I have a high risk to suffer 2nd heart attack, and Mercury already had all information. Yet, Judge Audra Mori not only let Mercury free from default entry but also deprived my right to pursue justice from Mercury, granted Mercury to abuse discoveries–“the right” to cause me 2nd heart attack, and sanctioned me $525 for protecting my life.
I could not believe such inhuman orders and decided to learn more about the judge. It turned out that Judge Mori was a partner at a law office who represents all the tech companies that hack our business—she was helping her clients outside! Motions for recuse were filed, but the judge refused to recuse herself as she believes that a Judge is entitled to do ANYTHING! Her supervisors either did not think her doing was unethical or find the case was not extraordinary enough.

Somehow, I am luckier than George Floyd as I was able to save my life with my invention and can still breathe.My cardiologists told me that I suffered Takotsubo Syndrome or broken heart syndrome secondary to acute stress. They either advised me to let go the car accident, “Avoid All Stress,” or asked me to repeat expensive tests. They cannot do more until my symptoms become severe enough for tent, bridge, bypass, transplant, etc., which are symptom relieves for blood vessel occlusion.Without a super healthy heart, it is impossible for me to carry my career and business and pursue my dream. To let go such a torture and end my dream, I would become a living dead, cost millions of healthcare dollars and social benefits, and become a burden. Lately, they have attempted to press me to kneel for life with their “new legal right.”
While saving my dream and life, I had a big discovery. Countless researches prove that heart attack is directly related to physical and mental stress. Traditional approach mainly provides life support during the acute stage, and asks victims to “AVOID ALL STRESS” before and after. However, it is unrealistic for many people to follow the last part, for which I am a perfect example. Without additional support, many victims can progress fast, which makes heart attack the #1 cause of death for men and women.In fact, many victims can learn to manage challenges to minimize stress and enhance healing during the incubation stage, recover before they need life support or stay well better. I was super healthy with no risk facts and no family or personal history of heart attack before I had an auto-accident early last year. A man suddenly cut in front of me while I was driving on my right way. 1. Manage Challenges with More Tools to Minimize Stress
It is insurance fraud to deprive the benefits to which victims are entitled. It is inhuman and malice to set a super healthy person up, torture her to develop a heart attack and knowingly push her back to the hospital and clinic over and over. Would you let them go if you were me? I will never. I first should not let myself crushed by them, so I started to analyze myself, explore 6Q tools, try them out, and then restarted the process as I was pushed back to the hospital or clinic over and over.
It is OK to meet daily challenges with some IQ and EQ tools and being positive. However, complex challenges often require to explore 6Q: IQ, EQ, learning Q, Public Influence Q, Adversity Q and Health Q, to find the skills and strategies and make learning and implementation easy. Then stress will decrease significantly, which takes away the big root cause for heart attack. Studies at the University of California at Long Beach found that the more control individuals have, the less stress they suffer.
2. Enhance Healing
Each person has a big internal healing system. Most people do something to maintain or optimize their healing or stay healthy. I did excellently here and did not smoke, drink or drug, but that did not save me from the heart attack. Healthcare is the next level. Because I could not benefit from Western medicine more, I went to Eastern medicine for additional support.
3. I Made It!
I made it and was able to protect our business when tech giants started to hack us. It felt great to be able to be who I am, do what I need, and overcome obstacles one after another. Yet, more challenges were waiting for me down the road.
By the time I went to the court with Mercury, I found the Judge did all she could to free Mercury and assist Mercury to harm me. It turned out that she was a Managing Director at Los Angeles for Perkins Coie that represents those hackers. She wanted to leave me almost nothing and stress me to kneel for life so that her clients can get our business at “a good price.” Unfortunately, that was unwise– financial interest and abuse of discretion are grounds to recuse a Judge. After all, today is not tomorrow. Chest pain relapses sometimes. I quickly pull out my new tools, and they work. My heart’s ejection fraction rate has increased close to the optimal level of function in one year. In the world full of harsh challenges, nothing can ensure our dream, life, success and happiness better than our inner power. Survivors like me often need extra care to protect the power, and it is worth it.
Those who can learn and whose heart issues can emerge or get worse under stress or challenge-meeting. The more stress can affect, the more the 6Q approach can help. The better the victims can learn, the faster they get well.
Individuals with Takotsubo Syndrome can benefit from the 6Q Approach the most as their heart attack , typically follows an emotional or physical stressor, and victims often have no family history or risk facts. Traditional healthcare cannot help them until they need life support. In fact, many victims can recover before they need life support if they act early through the 6Q Approach. Takotsubo Syndrome, also called broken heart syndrome or stress cardiomyopathy, has the common symptoms and labs of heart attacks but does not result from blood vessel occlusion but apical ballooning. Takotsubo Syndrome predominates in menopausal women (90%), elites and others who have NO family history and NO risk facts. Traditional healthcare cannot help victims until they need life support. In fact, many victims can recover before they need life support like me, minimize re-occurrence and save 80~90% of costs.
Takotsubo Syndrome typically follows intense emotional stress (such as a big dispute or loss) or physical stress (such as a stroke or infection). Pathology found that its apical ballooning at the acute stage is related to a surge in stress-related hormones. Menopausal women, elites and others either suffer intensified stress, reduced immunity or both. The challenges or associated stressors that contribute to Takotsubo Syndrome are often unexpected, unfair and significant, such as the ones I had in 2021, which further intensify the stress that victims suffer. Life is full of challenges, which most people cannot escape unless they disconnect them self from the world. Atherosclerosis is another big cause of heart attack, whose first symptom can be a sudden cardiac death or acute MI in >50% of victims, worse than stress’. Early detection is critical. In addition to diet and statins, there are more tools to save dreams and lives and save big healthcare costs and productivity losses.
The studies on 136,905 patients hospitalized found that 77% of them had normal LDL (bad cholesterol, <130 mg/dl), 61.8% had normal triglyceride (<150mg/dl), and 45.5% had normal HDL (good cholesterol, >40 mg/dl). The results indicate that lipid study alone cannot exclude atherosclerosis as well as the risk of heart attack.
Atherosclerosis can be so destructive because it can develop plaque to block the blood supply to brain and heart and cause heart attack and stroke. A person can suffer from both heart attack and stroke at the same time due to Atherosclerosis. Thus, early detection is critical. Traditional early treatment includes diet and statins. In fact, there are more tools to help victims recover faster or stay well better.
In addition to lipid study, other early detection includes electron beam tomography scan or EBT, ultrasound, and CT scan. The Society of Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication (SHAPE) encourages virtually all men 45 and older and women 55 and older to take screening for sub-clinical atherosclerosis to determine their future risk of a heart attack and take action accordingly, such as, to control their diet and take statins to lower their lipid. Below is their 1st guideline.
The exemption from the universal screening are those classified as “very low risk” who meet all of the following criteria:-cholesterol lower than 200(mg/dl),-blood pressure lower than 120 over 80 (mmHg),-no history of any type of diabetes, and-no smoking, and no family history of heart attack.
Now we know that those with “very low risk” can develop heart attack due to another big cause– extensive stress, for example, Takotsubo syndrome. The tools that enabled Takotsubo victims to recover fast can also benefit atherosclerosis victims greatly.
Stress also plays a big role in atherosclerosis since outside challenges can significantly impact victims’ life and work. Many people smoke, drink, eat or drug to manage their stress, which has many side effects. Behavior management cannot work well here because poor stress management is not simple behaviors but symptom relieves of the underlying system. It is hard to quit poor stress management without better replacements. Medications can reduce symptoms but cannot stop the stress from coming.
To avoid heart attack, traditional approach tells victims to “AVOID ALL STRESS.” However, as I have shared in my recovery story, it can be too hard not to do what needed or kneel for life to “AVOID ALL STRESS.” Instead, many victims can learn to manage challenges to minimize stress. The 6Q Approach can best help victims achieve the goal.

Can Behavior or EQ alone Build a Level 5 Leader?
ABSTRACT: Many Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivors can regain their key function beyond 2-year plateau and pursue their dreams again through the 6Q Cognitive Restoration. Many post-injury “chronic issues” can go away or be easily corrected. Millions of healthcare costs and dreams can be saved. The author will share with you why and how through the recoveries of her patients and herself.
Many people have been told that Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivors achieve maximum recovery in 2 years (called 2-year plateau), and TBI is a chronic illness. THAT IS NOT TRUE as uninjured brain cells have the same DNA and no 2-year plateau, and the “chronic issues” that emerge after injury will go away or be easily corrected if survivors know that they can regain their key function back and pursue their dreams again.
That is how I could recover myself from Traumatic Brain Injury due to an accident in 1997, pass medical license exams 2001~2003, and receive excellent letters of recommendation at the clinics. I have helped every TBI survivor I met at the clinics, who were 5-12 years beyond their 2-year plateau, and all achieved significant results, including their “chronic issues.”
What Impedes the Recovery from Traumatic Brain Injury?
Both tools and human beings. Somehow, traditional approach contributes to the 2-year plateau.
1. Limited Cognitive Restorationa. Limited Tools:
What is missing in today’s TBI rehab is full cognitive restoration. Most cognitive programs use limited IQ, behaviors or Psychology tools and prepare TBI survivors to accept “the next level of placement.” It can be very painful, frustrating, depressive, and stressful if individuals are unable to be who they want to be and stand up for themselves. Then various post-injury illnesses emerge.
The brain rehab I went to mainly helped me stay alive, no fall and no choke, which was essential but did not help me regain cognitive function and get back to who I was. Doctors mostly knocked on my knees and elbows (reflex check) during follow-up visits. Psychologists mainly let me express my fear and struggle and then advised me to accept my “new life.”
TBI victims need to find missing tools, learn fast, and fully utilize Eastern and Western medicine, which is the 6Q approach. First, each person is an integrated system of 6Qs: IQ, EQ, Learning Q, Adversity Q, Public Influence Q, and Health Q. Poor IQ performance can have non-IQ causes, where cognitive training and stimulation have limited impact. Behaviors or Psychology tools mainly reflect the 6Q system. Second, how to make learning easy is critical as the learning can be massive, and TBI survivors need to see results quickly to stay motivated. Third, Western medicine has limited power at the chronic stage.
Once TBI survivors know that they can regain their brainpower, many secondary issues can be easily corrected or go away. Here is one example.
A business owner often called 911 to go to the Emergency Room (ER) to yell at doctors and nurses. His ER visits lasted for years. I happened to do a rotation in ER that day and learned he did so since he was too frustrated that he had to relearn everything. I understood him, talked to him about his progress, and share with him my live sample of success. I told him that not everyone has a chance to go back to who they were, and her at least had a chance. If I could make it, so could him.
We talked for about 10 minutes. The business owner thanked me in the end. ER nurses later told me that the ER visit was his shortest and most pleasant one. He soon went to work and never came back to the ER. I could change his behavior in 10 minutes because I got the root cause of his behaviors.
b. Limited Focus
Years of studies have found that injured brain cells have 2-year plateau. However, uninjured brain cells have NO 2-year plateau but have the same DNA and learning capacity. Other studies have also found that most people only use 10% of their brains. Many TBI survivors have at least 10% of their brain cells uninjured, therefore, they have a great chance to go back to who they were, including the ones with brain removal. I had the chance to help one.
A tall and thin middle-aged man had partial brain removal due to TBI for about 10 years. His mother always accompanied him to the clinic and answered questions for him. I knew that the only way the man could speak is to practice whenever possible. I asked him to answer all the questions and told him that I had all the time I needed.
Of course, I did not have unlimited time. However, the man’s issue was straightforward. I had already read his medical history and could always ask his mother if needed. He was very slow initially, but he answered all my questions. Then I gave him some homework, asked him to read aloud at home and tell me the homework for the next visit. As he could speak more and more, the man became more and more alive, energetic, and shinning.
2. Ignorance and Resistance
Some “experts” refuse to believe that others can solve the problems that they cannot. They label the TBI survivors with the “disabilities” that they think should be there with “their way,” take away others’ training, insist on their wrongdoing… it is astonishing and heartbreaking to watch these happening, especially when those experts are someone who you have trusted and respected.
3. Legal Impact
Some attorneys only focus on making money and disregard their clients’ futures. I had the accident that led to TBI on my way to work, so I also a workman’s compensation claim. I totally had three attorneys, one of whom was the president of the workman’s compensation attorney association in one state. All three attorneys wanted me to claim 100% disabilities even after I passed medical licensing exams and received excellent letters of recommendation.
How to Recover from Traumatic Brain Injury beyond the “2-Year Plateau?”
First, it is critical to save life, minimize damage, and preserve non-injured brain cells at the acute stage. I could recover well also because the accident happened in a winter evening, so I could benefit from hypothermia therapy instantly. The hospital at Amarillo TX also took good care of me and taught me the first two words, “Good morning!”
Second, Physical rehab and speech therapy can further enhance safety and restore physical function, which is the foundation of cognitive restoration.
At last, restore cognitive function via 6Q approach instead of partial, so that individuals can go back to who they were and be contributors instead of accepting “the next level of placement.”
2. Who Can Benefit from the 6Q Cognitive Restoration?
Can anyone benefit from the 6Q cognitive restoration?No, only those who can learn and are motivated to learn.
Those with “chronic health issues” should have 6Q cognitive restoration and medical symptom relieves at the same time. Currently, we prefer all participants who have finished step 1 and 2.
3. How We Design the Program? What to Expect?
In general, we design custom program for each victim, based on their potential, previous job, unique learning needs and challenges. In the meantime, we make learning as easy and fun as possible, for the learning can be massive and frustrating, and TBI survivors need to see results quickly to stay motivated. Victims will practice at our virtual business, which will minimize their chances of getting COVID-19 infection as they will be busy “working at home.” In the meantime, we enhance internal healing through Eastern and Western medicine to maximize cognitive restoration.
What to expect? Many TBI survivors can show some improvement in 8 weeks if they work hard and achieve much more in 8-10 months. Complete recovery can take years.
4. How Much Can We Save in TBI?
Up to 53% of the homeless are affected by a brain injury (I was almost there). In fact, many of them can regain key cognitive function, go back to work, have a home, and pursue their dreams again. However, none of them know that they can have their lives back. People in healthcare and government benefits should inform them.
Per CDC, about 5.3 million survivors are living with a “permanent” TBI-related disability in the US. One TBI survivor costs $85,000 to $3 million for treatments and a disability benefit (DB) for living. The US GDP in 2019 was 21.43 trillion. If we free 1 million TBI survivors, the saving is:
($85,000~3 million+ DB+ Tax) x 1million = $85 billion ~3 trillion + 1 million DB+ 1 million Tax.
5. Who Offer Financial Support to TBI Recovery?
Many states have a trust fund to help TBI survivors learn new skills due to the high unemployment rate and a large amount of life treatment costs. Many TBI survivors are eligible for their state financial assistance. For example,

Healthcare costs have been soaring every year so fast that President Barack Obama once said, “By a wide margin, the biggest threat to our nation’s balance sheet is the skyrocketing cost of healthcare. It’s not even close.” In The Cost Conundrum, Dr. Atul Gawande described how some doctors at McAllen, Texas turn a population of twelve thousand dollars income per capital into one of fifteen thousand dollars per enrollee in Medicare, almost twice the national average.
The doctors’ business drive is only one internal cause. Middlemen’s profit sharing is one external cause. The non-health cause that contributes to about 70% of primary clinical visits for stress-related health issues and the limited way how businesses and individuals meet challenges and stay healthy also give those white-coat wolfs legitimate reasons and endless opportunities to suck the blood out of individuals, businesses, and economic systems. In addition, not all doctors have the best knowledge and problem-solving.
We can not only cut down healthcare costs but also improve healthcare quality and productivity at the same time. We can not only cut down today’s healthcare costs but also anticipate development needs in coming challenges, make wise investments and take early action. Our success started at the clinic in 2004 when I first invented the 6Q Approach. Here are 5 main steps.
– How Can Medical Treatments Become Expensive and Endless Symptom Relieves?
A study at Toronto University Family Medicine found that 70% of their primary visits are stress related. Most stress-related health issues are directly related to the lack of the right tools to meet the challenge, relax and restore self, for example, heart attack, insomnia, burnout, fast aging, obesity, and diabetes. McAllen could have heavy drinking sixty percent higher than the national average because many individuals in that area have lower education and fewer opportunities, so they drink to achieve a fast relief. Smoking and food are other common antidepressants. Then obesity and others associated diseases follow, such as heart attack, diabetes, and hypertension.
Some doctors and hospitals do not want their patients to find their missing tool—they want their patients to keep on coming back. Some doctors indulge their patients with heart failure not to sleep and eat right so they can have “a new heart” quicker. Until individuals can find their missing tools, the same issues often keep on coming back and getting worse. Because doctors and hospitals are often paid by visits and procedures, medical treatments can become expensive and endless symptom relieves with legitimate reasons. As people go to the clinic or hospital more, more complications can emerge, which require further treatments. Heart disease is a good example.
-Limited Talent Management Also Contributes to Health Issues
The best way for talent to minimize stress-related health issues is to stay on the right track (avoid unsuitable challenges) and meet challenges with the right tools. However, people often lack the right tools to meet challenges, especially those resulted from non-IQ and non-EQ sources.
Behaviors can reflect the underlying structure in different environments but often change as environments changes. Thus, insignificant weaknesses in that environment will not surface but can impact the next project. We call the weakness Relative Weakness. The 360-degree evaluation can only collect behavior observation AFTER a person gets into the specific environment. “Shoot Burnout, Save His Job!” is a good example. Individuals with high EQ can control what others can observe at the workplace and alter 360-degree evaluation results. A 2016 Deloitte survey found that only 13% of companies believe they are building effective global leaders.
Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan, repeatedly said at top MBAs that individuals ought to take care of themselves and not to expect their company to babysitter them. However, many people cannot manage self efficiently due to poor knowledge and then develop or worsen their health issues, for example, stroke and fast aging.
Some people go to the hospital too late, which makes a small problem big, big problem impossible. One couple called 911 after their son got choked. By the time when an ambulance arrived, the boy already died as the human brain can only tolerate no oxygen for 6-7 minutes. The couple should have removed the foreign object and started CPR (cardiac pulmonary resuscitation) while waiting for the ambulance. In heart attack and stroke, the window time to dissolve the clots is only a few hours. However, many people miss the precious hours and have a feeble recovery.
Self-management can be the most difficult task in the world because of human nature and knowledge base, starting from decision-making to execution, including time management, teamwork, relaxation, restoration, etc. Many individuals miss some tools along the process, which can impede their success and destroy their health.
Not every doctor and hospital has the best knowledge or keeps the best interest of their patients in mind. Some doctors only want to use their specialty to solve ALL problems. For example, a Psychiatrist wants to treat a heart attack by easing a patient’s mind, and a Surgeon likes to use a knife instead of preventive care. Some physicians have limited knowledge and creativity. Many disabilities and deaths result from improper treatments or unnecessary treatments.
In 1997, my mother and I were rear-ended in a tragic auto accident. She was put on a ventilator since she could not breathe on her own. About 5 weeks later, her doctor diagnosed that she would be ventilator-dependent for the rest of her life since she did not improve. My mom refused to live on the ventilator, so I had to be the one to discontinue her lifeline. I decided to exam her myself before I took the final step. To my surprise, I found her diaphragm was intact, which meant that she could breathe by raising and relaxing her diaphragm (abdominal breath). I taught her the new way of breathing. She got off the ventilator in three days. Later she regained her independence through both the Eastern and Western medicine.
I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury in the accident. Almost all experts predicted that I could not recover. In the meantime, we got zero compensation from the courts, including the US Supreme Court. After I cried for a whole night, I decided to recover myself and apply for a medical license. In addition to the Eastern and Western medicine, I studied hard, joined all kinds of events and tried everything I could found. Thank God, I have passed all 3 steps of medical license examinations and received many excellent letters of recommendations at the clinics.
Each person’s 6 quotients are integrated, which is why health issues can have non-health causes, and poor IQ and EQ performance can result from non-IQ and non-EQ sources. By knowing individual 6Q structures, we can anticipate when relative weaknesses will become significant, which strengthen can be irrelevant, so businesses and individuals can make wise investments.
In the meantime, healthcare issues among employees often can reflect the missing tools in leadership and talent management, for example, recruitment, talent tasking, and institutional strategy. Partial approaches only offer legitimate reasons for greedy doctors and hospitals to suck the blood out of customers and economic systems and destroy the competitiveness of businesses and nations and bankrupting millions of families.
The efficient solution is to link health management with talent management, remove the root causes of endless symptom relieves and empower individuals to participate in personal health management and utilize health resources wisely. Individuals can get well quickly, including the same day, with the minimum re-occurrence like the cases above. Businesses can optimize productivity and minimize absenteeism and healthcare costs. In addition, both can anticipate development needs, including health needs in coming challenges, make wise investments, and take early action. Solving problems around healthcare alone is inefficient. Unlike health insurance companies, businesses do not have the conflict of interests in paying for personal development.
It is time to look at the big picture, think differently, empower yourself with the right tools, and target issues efficiently. By doing so, we can not only cut down healthcare costs but also improve healthcare quality and productivity at the same time and help more businesses become an employer of choice.

Many people do not understand why CEO stress has anything to do with CEO health. In fact, the two are closely connected.
Recently, the health of Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, has raised a national discussion. Many people think that his health is not his private matter because so many others depend upon him. Some even have raised a stock security issue. Forbes has pointed out that the Apple CEO turned to cancer removal surgery eight months after the diagnosis. Would there be less unfortunate issues to begin with if leaders could take better care of themselves?
When talking about how to be a CEO, people usually do not think about sustainability at times of unexpected change, intense stress, illness or injury. Unfortunately, life is full of unexpected challenges, which can disable our mind, or even take away our success. It takes a different set of skills to sustain our optimal creativity and health than to utilize them. It is important to have both. An unfortunate outcome affects not only the key person, but also his/her family, partners, colleagues, employees and more.
People tend to count on doctors for their health. However, how we handle illnesses before and after seeing doctors can mean life or death, recovery or disability. Although I had excellent medical training, I could have lost my mother had I not questioned the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) physicians after a tragic auto-accident. My mother suffered a cervical-2 fracture. Even after five weeks of intensive care, she could not get off of the ventilator. Her ICU physicians “concluded” that she would be ventilator-dependent for the rest of her life. My mother refused to live on a machine. I never doubted the ICU physicians. But at the last moment, I chose to do my own assessment and found that she did not breathe efficiently. Through a new way of breathing I taught her, my mother was taken off the ventilator successfully after only three days!
In another example, a prestigious rehab center had some very well known experts in Traumatic brain injury (TBI). These experts concluded that the poor impulse control secondary to TBI was incurable since they could not find the cure. A resident physician with a history of TBI had one unfortunate incident. These experts linked the incident with her past injury, and concluded that she had a poor impulse control and could not handle stress. They took away her residency training at the last minute even through her references from clinical training prior were excellent. Instead of telling her their reasoning, they told her something else, which has caused her a huge waste of time and money. In fact, the victim had found a way to correct the impulse control. But to these experts, if they could not find the cure, no one could! And they abandoned their own victim when their support was needed most!
Not everyone needs to go to medical school. However, we need general and systemic health knowledge about ourselves and different health systems, for example, what costly health mistakes to avoid, and how to select specialists. We need to stay in charge, especially when it is a matter of life or death, recovery or disability. A part of our 4-day Executive Synergy Program provides hands-on training in this area.
According to a survey of Vistage (an international organization for CEOs), 100 percent of 2,400 participating CEOs are suffering stress. CEO stress can come from external sources, like an uncertain economy. CEO stress can also come from our body and mind, such as the examples described above. Stress, while a great motivator, can disable our thinking and creativity, which are the keys to leadership. Stress can also harm our health and emotions. To some extend, a par of how to be a CEO is how to manage CEO stress. An exceptional CEO usually manages stress at another level.
Stress management to many people is limited relaxation exercises, such as deep breathing, brisk walking, meditation, Yoga and breaks. These are not enough to handle intense CEO stress. We need to build up our personal relaxation hierarchies, which are the right tools for the right levels of stress. At The Prince Synergy, we call it “overarmed.” We need a clear mind to look into underlying causes and figure out solutions. Different people need different relaxation hierarchies.
Another common definition of stress management is “coping with stress” and “positive thinking.” We don’t have to “live with stress.” We can prevent, utilize, reduce and transform stress. We can manage stress in many ways, business, medical, legal or even “technical” ways. A CEO suffered newly onset insomnia due to insecurities of her business. None of her relaxation methods or sleeping pills worked. Sleep is very important to productivity and wellness. She could not have a real sense of security until her business thrived, which could take time. However, she could use her faith as “the sense of security” by placing it into her unconscious level. Strong stress management training is even more important at times of extreme crisis, where the level of stress is highest. Some CEOs tend to check themselves into the hospital. I had a crisis in 2007, and started crisis management immediately. I used my relaxation hierarchy to keep a clear mind, and in the meantime, kept telling myself that the crisis was not the end of the world. Instead of spending time in the hospital, I worked on my solution to turn the crisis into an opportunity the same night.
Our beliefs, perceptions, standards, visions and expectations can also affect the outcome. The cases of my mother and the rehab center are also good examples of blindly following authority figures (such as the ICU physicians) and assumptions.

What we can see in society and ourselves determines how we act and what we can achieve. I did not value Eastern medicine i at medical school. After being through family injuries and personal challenges, I have appreciated its recovery and relaxation power more and more. I sometimes acupuncture myself and pick up my own herb tea for certain types of tiredness and stress. I did not know about the internet or computers in high school. What I want and can do today is different fr om what was possible back then. There are many ways to sustain our optimal levels. We won’t “see” them until we can open to them.
How we act can also affect our health and potential profoundly. A star athlete from Fargo High School joined Stanford on a four-year football scholarship. After he ran into bigger and meaner competitors, he chose to focus upon his economics major. He has since built a multi-billion-dollar investment bank. What if he had chosen steroid for temporary gain, or used drugs for temporary high like many others? He would have to face more problems down the road, such as systemic injuries or issues related to addictions.
Our mind, body and stress management are one integrated system. We can be limited internally and externally. The limitations can lead to stress issues in business and health if we do not take care them efficiently. We can and need to, utilize our full internal and external resources efficiently, and prosper in business and life. Leaders should not settle with how to be a CEO, but how to be an exceptional CEO.
In summary, the skills to utilize our creativity and health and to lead are different from those to sustain the potential from unexpected change, intense stress, costly health mistakes and injury. In this age of intense competition, CEOs need these skills to stay at their optimal level and save subsequent agony from CEO stress. It is not hard to identify your “missing software” and build a firewall for your leadership in just a few hours. This is not only about how to be a CEO, one key individual, but also about your family, partners, colleagues, employees and more.

Business owner Mr. T was admitted to the hospital again for heart disease. Although his father had heart disease, many of his siblings were healthy. Mr. T enjoyed his work and family and had a good business. However, he could only sleep 4-5 hours whenever something new coming to him, and insomnia often lasted for days. Then he had to be admitted to the hospital. His cardiologist told him that he would need open heart surgery or a heart transplant if his condition got worse. The latter costs $780,000~1,200,000.
Did the cardiologist miss anything? Most people would say no, but the answer is incorrect.Good sleep is a critical part of Mr. T’s recovery, which sleeping pills cannot solve. We should identify why he could not handle new events, teach him the skills he missed or choose the right alternatives. This part is beyond traditional healthcare and leadership tools.
The Executive 6Q Assessment found that Mr. T had development needs in daily self-management, from work, relaxation, and sleep hygiene. No leadership, career and other significant issues. After a series of exercises, Mr. T could sleep well. Then his heart disease stopped getting worse, lab test results came back better, and his hospitalization dropped from 4-5 times/year to 1 time in the first year. Then he could remain stable on medication.
Heart disease is often directly stress-related. Survivors often lack the right tools to meet challenges. In the above case, the challenge is unable to sleep well after new event emerges. Without getting to the root causes, treatments and their costs can advance quickly. This principle applies to about 70% of health issues.
Mr. B, 38, with MBA and ten years of experience at a well-known leadership consulting firm in roles from consultant to local VP, was promoted to Regional Manager to boost regional sales and minimize turnover. Two months later, sales remained flat, and turnover had increased. His pregnant wife was very unhappy as he spent a great deal of time away from home due to the new job. His burnout was so bad that he was contemplating resignation when he met us.
Work from Inside Out
The Executive 6Q Assessment found Mr. B was an excellent consultant with many great leadership characteristics, such as decision-making, learning, EQ, persuasion, etc. However, he was weak in sales and marketing, and challenged in public influence, emotional expression, and energy restoration, and other that were not significant to a local VP.
We chose to optimize his emotion expression immediately to first take care of his family crisis so that he could recover from burnout and focus on his new job and later build intimacy with clients and colleagues. In addition, we suggested customized learning to target the rest issues.
Recover from Burnout, Focus on His New Role
Through 30 minutes of training, he learned how to share his professional stress with his wife, win her understanding and support, and eliminated his family problems. With the same skills, he also learned how to connect with clients and colleagues more deeply. One week later, he gained more confidence with his new role and could connect with clients and colleagues more deeply.
After just 90 min assessment and 30 min training, Mr. B recovered from burnout, made a breakthrough, and saved his job and region.
Burnout is very common in workplace, secondary to stress. Enough rest, exercise and social support are good but too general. Individuals can recover quickly if we can get to the root cause and target issues with the right tools. The above case is a good example.
